How We Evaluate Products

Our comparison system evaluates products across multiple dimensions to provide you with transparent, data-driven recommendations.

  • Price: We normalize prices across products to identify value. Lower prices contribute to higher scores.
  • Customer Ratings: We aggregate verified ratings from multiple sources, normalized to a 0-5 scale.
  • Review Count: Products with more verified reviews provide more reliable data. We use logarithmic scaling to account for wide ranges in review volume.
  • Category-Specific Attributes: Each category has weighted attributes (e.g., grain-free for food, durability for toys) that contribute to the overall score.

How Best Pick is Chosen

Our Best Pick algorithm uses a deterministic scoring system:

  1. Each product receives a normalized score (0-1) for each attribute
  2. Attributes are weighted based on category importance
  3. Total score = sum of (normalized value × weight) for all attributes
  4. Confidence = (top score / sum of all scores) × 100
  5. The product with the highest total score becomes Best Pick

We provide the top 3 reasons why a product is Best Pick, as well as any tradeoffs compared to runner-up options.
